Proven Soundness...Purpose Bred...
ABOUT US
Andre & Natalie van der Merwe registered Snowdrift Siberians in
1994. We were lucky enough that our foundation consisted of a blend
of two fantastic lines— Karnovanda and Kristari.
Both our children came up through the ranks of Child and Junior
Handlers, both qualifying for the Junior Handler of the Year
Competition.

The household was always one where you had to fight to sit on the
lounge suite, and normally ended up losing to one of the
Siberians…as our dogs have always been very much part of our daily
living.
The progression of being owned by Siberians has been a right of
passage for me personally and one consisting of:

Falling in love with the breed initially because they are such a visual
delight.
Learning how to sled alongside them.
Learning to show alongside them.
Becoming obsessive about showing
BUT thankfully eventually coming
full circle and realizing that breeding, showing and running this
magical breed can be done without being obsessive...everything in
moderation (taking a leaf from the Breed Standard)!

What a difference they have made in my life! Each truly
special in their own right—

THANK YOU!
A huge “Thank You” goes to Andre—an integral and extremely important part
of building Snowdrift Siberians.
I was the handler of the Siberians—he was pretty much everything else— the
puppy catcher, the knowledge behind our breedings, the musher - the
support system without which nothing would have worked.
Thanks for making it all possible Andre!

Alpher Child
DOGMOR DOG OF THE
YEAR 2002
(the first & only Siberian Husky
bitch to attain this accolade in
SA dog showing history)

Alpher is definitely Mom’s girl
and is very close to my heart…
Ally keeps busy with her
children &
grandchildren...teaching them to
open deadbolts, chew through
fences, wee in their food bowl
(very important apparently!) and
generally does not act like a 9
year old should...mind you...she
is a Siberian!
She is very much
loved
